Alan Jackson

Alan Eugene Jackson was born on 17 October 1958 in Newnan , Georgia). He was influenced by the new traditional country of the 1980s, and he was one of the most popular country singers of the 1990s, blending both honky tonk and mainstream country sounds and penning many of his own hits. His success has continued into the 2000s and his music became increasingly counter posed with that of more mainstream country acts.

However in general Alan has maintained his roots and kept his albums purely country with the exception of his last release which perhaps had more of a bluesy feel. He is the recipient and nominee of multiple awards. He was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2001.

The much-awaited latest release from Alan Jackson is extremely good value with some 17 tracks. It is not just quantity which is good but "Good Time" brings Alan back to a more traditional feel than his previous album. He has already charted with "Small Town Southern Man" which is a tribute to his father.

The man is pure country to me and although he has never received full recognition in theCMA awards has maintained his popularity for nearly 20 years - a rare feat in the ever-changing Nashville scene. Look out for the title track "Good Time" - up-tempo in the "Chattanoochie" mould which on first hearing impressed me greatly but make sure you listen to the whole album. In parts it is reminiscent of much of Alan's earlier songs and 17 tracks gives good variety. Highly recommended for all who like the down-home country sound brought to life in modern times.
